The Reverend Dr. Shivraj Kumar Mahendra is the Dean of Online Studies and Associate Professor of History of Christianity and Missiology at New Theological College (NTC) Dehradun; Professor of Indian Church History at North India College of Christian Studies (NICCS), Gurugram; and Adjunct Professor of Mission Studies at Kentucky Mountain Bible College (KMBC), USA.
Dr. Mahendra also serves as the Vice President of Association of Theological Teachers in India (ATTI), Serampore; General Secretary of Church History Association of India (CHAI) Bangalore; Member of Board of Studies (Missiology Branch), Senate of Serampore College (University); Board Member of the Bible Society of India (Allahabad Auxiliary); Editor of History, Asian American Theological Forum (AATF); Managing Editor at the E. Stanley Jones Foundation (ESJF); Member, Research and Prize Committee, American Society of Church History (ASCH); and Member of International Association of Mission Studies (IAMS).
Dr. Mahendra earned his PhD from Asbury Theological Seminary, USA. He is also an alumnus of the United Theological College, Bengaluru (MTh), Union Biblical Seminary, Pune (BD), Luther W. New Jr. Theological College, Dehradun (BTh), Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Srinagar (MA [Sociology]), and Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi (BA [Sociology], MA [Hindi], Post Graduate Diploma in Translation [PGDT], and Post Graduate Diploma in Distance Education [PGDDE]).
Dr. Mahendra’s research interests include biography as missiology, world Christianities, and world religions. His publications include the award-winning Lived Missiology (2021) and nine other books and twenty-two Hindi translations, including Timothy Tennent’s Christianity at the Religious Roundtable (2003), C. B. Firth’s Introduction to Indian Church History (2004), and M. M. Thomas’ The Acknowledged Christ of the Indian Renaissance (2010).
Dr. Mahendra comes from Chhattisgarh in central India and has been involved in Christian mission and ministries since 1996. An ex-President of the Ganesha festival, Shivraj's life was transformed by the vision of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is an Ordained Elder of the Free Methodist Church (FMC-USA) currently serving as Director of Missions in the Himalayan Mission District of the FMC-India. He also organizes the annual Hindi Christian Poets Conference under the Hindi Christian Literary group Masihi Lekhak Aur Anuvadak Parishad.
Dr. Mahendra is married to Anita Mahendra (MA [English], MDiv) and they are blessed with two daughters and two grandchildren. Mrs. Mahendra is a homemaker and a prayer warrior.
